Its Name
Its actual codename was H7X which was then referred as Buzzard for a while and then it was Showcase in the AutoExpo 2020 in the name of Gravitas which was then finally changed to Safari to grab the attention of the old Safari fans which have finally resulted into a controversy between the Safari fans.
Design
It have quite a lot of similarities with the Harrier except the new front grill everything is same as of the Harrier, there is chrome inserts in Safari more than Harrier which makes it some what distinguishable.
the Safari is built on the same platform of the Harrier which is the Land Rover derived Omega Arc Platform.
Coming to the side profile is where you can see significant changes which is due to the 60mm more in length and 80mm more in height than the Harrier which makes space for the third row in Safari.
After C pillar the Safari is a whole new in design with large rear quarter glass which is for the third row and the iconic stepped roof which is derived from the older generation makes it distinctive from the back side.
At the back we have a new tailgate which is more vertical and the safari badging which run across it.
Performance
Tata Safaris powered by a 2 litre Kryotec Turbo diesel engine which produces 170hp power with 350 nm torque which is mated with a 6 speed manual or a 6 speed automatic torque converter gearbox. Which is also as same as that of the harrier!!!
Interior
The only change is the 3rd row seats and the 6&7 seat configuration according to which we can get 2 captain seats at the second row or will get a bench seat which will accommodate 3 people and 2 at the last row. The interior also comes with a dual tone colour scheme and the rest of is as same as that of the Harrier. You will get a 8.8 inch touchscreen infotainment with 9 speaker JBL audio system also a 7 inch digital instrument cluster with panoramic sunroof.
Variants
Tata Safari will be available in 6 variants right now which are XE,XM, XT, XT+, XZ, XZ+.
Conclusion
Tata should have named it Harrier only since it have so much similarities, naming it Tata Safari is utterly nonsense!!!
