Normal Cars vs Electric Cars
Mechanical configuration
Normal cars are powered by an internal combustion engine which converts heat energy into mechanical energy to drive the wheels via gearbox which can be manual or automatic . They use Petrol or Diesel as fuel to run the engine. Its engine configuration starts from a 3 cylinder engine to as high as 16 cylinders depending on the performance you need in the car.
Whereas electric cars are powered by an AC or DC motor which is fed by a battery pack and they are mated with a easy or single speed gearbox which is mainly automatic in nature. It always have a normal and easy construction as compared to the normal car.
Performance
Normal cars have a great market for performance because they can be easily tuned and customised as per our performance needs and they can be pushed to a greater extend . The engine should have a certain RPM required to give the peak torque output.
Electric cars have a lot of limitations in terms of tuning and they cant be pushed to their limits because of the complex electrical networks inside the car. Here you get the peak torque from 0 RPM itself so you can have a better launch while starting from standstill .
Heating
Normal cars are infamous for their heating issues specially when its tuned for increased performance and this can seriously affect the engine and other components and to get rid of this they require a heavy cooling mechanism like radiator which increases the bulkiness of the car.
Electric cars don't have such heating issues with their motors the only heating issue is with their batteries and that can be easily controlled using copper cooling pipes or we can have liquid cooling too.
Conclusion
Both type of cars are great in their own aspects as one is pollution free while the other have the true experience of driving a car with sound and vibrations which is not there in electric one, the main thing we should see that it takes a lot more time to charge the batteries than a few seconds to fill the gasoline and for a country like India we don't have a great charging infrastructure so it will take time to accept electric cars in India. Lets hope that Musk will do it soon in India also.
