Maruti Suzuki also commands the largest automotive after sales service network. As of July 2018, it had a market share of 53% in the Indian passenger car market. It is the only manufacturer in India which have monthly sales crossing 6 digit figures.

Why is it so popular

As already mentioned Maruti have the largest after sales service network across the country, 3600+ service centres are located across 1700 cities so its a smooth cakewalk for you to get your vehicle repaired in any part of the country. Also the availability of parts is a really important factor for us and Maruti excels in that aspect too.

The main thing that a typical Indian checks before buying a car is its resale value and the mileage of that car and this is where Maruti manipulates people!!!!

Manipulation

For better mileage Maruti plays a dirty game of reducing the weight of their cars which effects the stability, handling and ride quality of the cars .
For example , If we take a successful hatchback of Maruti like Swift and compare it with its close rival like Volkswagen's Polo  both the cars have approximately similar dimensions but when it comes to the weight of the car Polo weighs approximately 1100kgs  whereas the Swift have a kerb weight of just 965kgs and this reduction in weight is not only seen in swift but also in their premium hatchback like baleno.

How to lose weight

Maruti reduces the weight of its cars by reducing the panel quantity which results in heavy damage to the car even at low speed collisions. In a normal collision the panels crumples to absorb the collision energy but here in Maruti's case even in slow speed collisions the panels gets crumpled which results in heavy damage to the car which increases the service charge and due to reduced weight at high speed the Steering is like lifeless and during heavy braking there is an increased chance of losing control over the car .

Conclusion

If you are also having that typical Indian mentality of high resale value and mileage you can go ahead and buy it but also remember  that small collisions can cause you a hefty price to repair and If you want to use it as a city car that's perfect.
Driving these cars at high speeds require guts of steel and it is also risking others life too so try to avoid overspeeding as much as possible.
Never drive faster than your guardian angel can fly.
