After one year of its launch does our Desi Tesla have the punch??

It was on January 2020 when Tata motors entered into the EV segment with their Nexon EV, which proved to be one of their best selling cars with crossing the 2000 units milesone in just 10 months!!!

But is that still worth a buy in 2021??

Nexon Ev is as similar as that of the Nexon which runs on fossil fuel the only difference being that its an all electric car with no engine . 

Before Nexon EV India have witnessed some electric cars made by manufacturers like Mahindra but they all failed to impress the Indian customers as Indians were addicted to petrol and Diesel vehicles only.

Reason for their failure

The main reason for their failure was that they were extremely small with very less power and torque output from their small electric motors their battery range and all this for a price tag that makes your pocket empty  made it an easy choice for Indians to avoid these cars since India doesn't have that much of charging support across the nation.

And its here where Nexon Ev comes to live with its attractive looks and 5 star crash safety and its competetive pricing which already made up many minds to grab one before its launch.

Design

As already mentioned design of Nexon EV is completely taken from the normal Nexon with a little bit of electric blue accents in and around the grill with EV badging in the same colour scheme and the green registration plate that you will get are the only difference in both the Nexon and the EV one .

Powertrain

This car is powered by 127 hp electric motor connected with an IP 67 rated 30.2 kWh High energy density Lithium ion battery pack. This takes about 60 minutes to be charged up to 80% using fast charging, on the other hand, estimated regular charging time from a 15 A plug point to attain 90% charging from a dry state is close to 8.5 hours. The vehicle is rated to deliver a maximum full charge range of 312 kms .

Conclusion

So is the Nexon Ev ready to compete with big players like Tesla??

looking at the price point its a steal deal with Nexon but with the advanced technologies that the tesla have its difficult for Nexon until and unless it gives itself a facelift with some class leading technologies and features.
