Why does Indian Cars lack in safety features

Indian car market doesn't provide basic safety features as standard in order to cut the cost as much as possible because its in Indian mentality to get everything at a cheaper rate.
Addition of safety features means addition of weight in the car which will affect the fuel economy of the car and therefore making it really tough job to sell the car.
Even some cars have weak reinforced structures that means at the time of collision the passenger cabin have a greater chance to crumple and therefore injuring the passenger seriously and also trapping them inside the car.

Indian car safety Dual front airbags

Above all of this Indian government does not have a strict rule for a safer car until December when the driver-side airbag has been made mandatory under the BNVSAP safety norms in India. But, you should look for a car that at least has dual airbags at the front, for both the driver and passenger. Any number more than that is great. Airbags act crucial at the times of accidents as they act as restraints and reduce the level of damage one might incur.
